Wordpress updated automatically to WordPress 3.8.1.
I have been slowly upgrading all my customers as I get to them by FIRST doing a backup.
But now I see that Wordpress is auto upgrading all my accounts to the latest version. Is this a concern for anyone but me? |
this is something WordPress has decided is best for everyone (ummm..ehhh...right)
I personally do not like to be the first to upgrade because of the 'gotchya's', i.e., something that wasn't tested completely. And I'll admit I'm guilty of this. Atahualpa 3.7.13 has two 'bugs' that I caused because I forgot to take some testing out before sending it to Flynn to be delivered to WP. If you look at the WP forums, you will see a lot of people have had problems because of this automatic update. Now a lot of people have not seen a problem and the people who have had issues would probably have the same issue when they manually did an update, BUT it would have been at a time of their choosing and not something they woke up to find that there site was broken. There is an define you can add to the wp-config.php to shut it off, just do a google search 'wordpress how to turn off automatic updates' |
Thanks, JD, there is one bright light here, though, it has given me a heads up on those websites that still have MY email in settings, which I neglected to change back to the owner's after the site was completed!
The thing is that to go and do the coding upgrade for 80 or more people for free, is not anything I am planning to do any time soon, though I will do it for my own website. |
