Showing and Hiding Sidebars Efficiently
Hi,
I am trying to set-up my website with certain content only for registered users. (www.thebirdschool.com) Right now I have two menus at the top and an inner and outer right sidebar. I would like to set-up a category: www.thebirdschool.com/registered-members for these, I would want to hide the inner and outer right sidebar and show a left sidebar instead It seems extremely cumbersome to have to type in all categories and pages from which to hide those sidebars from. There are a lot of them. Is there an easier way of doing it? or am I better off to setting-up a new website for this? |
ps. I'd also somehow need to protect the members area.

Why not keep the two right sidebars and just change the widgets based on their registration. You could use the plugin 'widget logic' to decide what widget to show.

Thank you. I will have a look at that!

Let me put in a plug for the Advanced Text Widget by Max Chrikov.
Just as a text widget it adds a bunch of features (can use php, suppress showing the Widget title, etc.) but it also allows you to easily show or hide the widget on particular pages as well as apply your own custom css IDs/Classes to that widget. It will also imbue (most) other widgets with those same features! There's also a Pro version with some further capabilities. Ken |
Thank you, Ken. Is it able to hide an entire sidebar by any chance in certain categories?
|
No... its just a widget *in* a sidebar.
Atahualpa has the capability to hide a sidebar by category built into the sidebar options. Ken |
