Google Custom Search

Wondering what is the preferred method of implementing Google Custom Search with Atahualpa?

Is it:
http://digwp.com/2010/10/google-cust...o+WordPress%29

Or using one of these:
http://wordpress.org/plugins/google-custom-search/
or:
http://aleembawany.com/projects/word...search-plugin/

And if using a plugin, any tips?

juggledad May 31, 2013 06:12 AM

Atahualpa search box is in the header (or sidebar) - see ato->Style & edit HEADER AREA->Show search box?

I suspect the search box will go wherever you put the code. What have you tried?

gnosis May 31, 2013 06:54 AM

The plugins implie you do not have to put the code anywhere

lmilesw May 31, 2013 06:58 AM

What plugin are you using. If it has a widget did you add it to where you want it?

gnosis May 31, 2013 06:58 AM

The instructions for the first one you mention say
Quote:

4. Add Google Custom Search Widget.
the second one references WP 2.7 so it looks very old....and the authors home page hasn't been updated since 2011

gnosis May 31, 2013 08:54 AM

Widget makes search appear, but search does not work.

juggledad May 31, 2013 08:59 AM

what is the site and where did you put the widget?

gnosis May 31, 2013 08:59 AM

Development site, not on DMZ.

juggledad May 31, 2013 01:51 PM

can't help you much then

lmilesw May 31, 2013 03:27 PM

And I don't know how a Google search plugin would work unless you have a site Google can access.
