no featured images after back-up
Hello,
Strange thing happened after backup - featured images exist in edit module, but are tottaly absent in all posts headlines. Any help appreciated. G. |
what kind of backup?
|
there was two directories in server /blog and /blog_old. I accidentaly deleted /blog directory, then, found out that blog is not working, and uploaded it to server again with WINcommander. After that blog started to load again with all info, but no featured images.
In edit module, if i select "inspect element" on a featured image and check it's url - it loads. Still no sign of these images in headers. |
it sounds like you removed something that wordpress was using - this has nothing to do with the theme.
Swap to twenty-twelve and see if the featured images are there. You may have to go back into the posts, remove then readd the featured images. and make sure in the future before you make any major changes to yout site (upgrade the theme, upgrade WprdPress, revmove a folder form the server) that you have done a complete backup database and the entire wordpress folder (FYI: I use BuddyPress a paid plugin to do this for me.) |
Just tried to switch "live preview" of "Twenty Twelve" -and it shows all my featured images. Any idea what could be wrong?
Remove then readd the featured images didn't help. p.s. All my backup (files & database) was made with DirectAdmin and to the server I uploaded only the directory I deleted. |
Also "Auto post thumbnail" don't work, because twenty-twelve shows featured image, and if i remove featured image, Montezuma should show "auto thumbnail" in the post header - it does not show it..

I'm not sure what to tell you. Something you did has caused an error and without having a copy of the site to dig thru I can only guess. My guess is that there was something in the folder you removed and when you went into wordpress some link got messed up causing the issue.
At this point even adding back the folder won't correct it if it is in the DB. You would have to restore the DB to that point in time also. |
Problem solved - the cure was to set /uploads directory to 777 recursive
|
You should set it to 755 - with 777 anyone can write to it.
