[SOLVED] Separating the content area from the header and right nav

Hello everyone,

I am extremely new to wordpress and know little about web design. I have worked through an introductory HTML/CSS course, but I still need much more time to actually make real progress.

I just want to know how I can go about separating the header/title area and the right nav from the main content area.

In other words, I want a header/title section. I want a right nav section. And I want the main content area for my posts. I am trying to figure out how to separate these three items, because by default Atahualpa has all of them in the main content area.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I am not sure what you mean. Atahualpa has a header section, and center section, right and left sidebar sections, and a footer section.

But they are all part of the main content area. They are all part of the white area in the center. I am trying to get the center area to only contain my posts and related material. I want the right nav and header to be outside of the main posting area (the white area).

I don't know if i'm making any sense right now.

But they aren't part of the main content area. I suppose they could LOOK as though they were if you had the same background color and no borders but they are separate areas and can be styled as such.

Could you post a URL?

Here's the link:

I've done next to nothing with it besides changing the background color and a couple of padding options.

The first thing I would so it go to ATO>Style & edit sidebars and uncheck all the boxes for the display of the right inner sidebar. That will get rid of a blank area on the front page. Then you should wander through all the setting and try a few things to get a bit familiar with Atahualpa.

Thanks!

Things finally starting to come together now! I was a little overwhelmed at first but i'm just taking it one step at a time now.
