[SOLVED] How to control sidebars on a static home page
I’ve set up a static page as the home page via the Reading function in Wordpress. I then created a page called Blog and set that as the post page. My problem is that the new static home page displays both sidebars (left and right) but I want only the right sidebar to show. I have the theme set so that the “Page” pages display only the right sidebar and not the left sidebar. I want the left sidebar to display only on the Blog page. But when you go to the static home page the left sidebar appears. This is, I’m sure, because it is now the front or home page and I cannot figure out how to edit it so that the left sidebar doesn’t appear on that page.
I hope this makes sense and appreciate any assist. Fred |
Two ways to do this, go to ATTO->Style & configure SIDEBARS->LEFT sidebar: Display on: and uncheck 'Homepage' or
edit the static home page and make note of it's id number (last part of page address ....id=xx) then go to ATTO->Style & configure SIDEBARS->LEFT sidebar: Don't display on Pages: and insert the id number |
Thanks for the reply Juggledad. BTW I just donated to you. Not a bribe :) This is a super theme but sometimes I'm a bit thick.
Anyway, I had already done what you suggested. I unchecked Home and Front Page plus listed all the ID's for all other pages except for Blog (ID 72) and the status as of now is that the Left Sidebar doesn't show on any page, even the Blog page whose ID I did not include in the list. I know I must be missing something here but can't figure out what it is. Thanks for any help on this. Fred |
since you are using the 'Front page displays a static page', the frontpage and home page are different:

I swear I read that note but on reading it again I see it is clearly stated. Thanks so much for pointing that out.
