How to restrict the sidebar widget container to a specific size?

I'm working on a site for someone and they're using your current Atahualapa theme. They want their widget containers to be a non-fluid size, kind of like this website's container boxes:

Of course, their container boxes don't appear to be widgets, but they're a fixed size. Is there a way to do this with the Atahualpa theme (restrict the widget container to a specific size so that it doesn't expand based on the amount of content)? I would just add a "read more" link. I've just started working on this site only less than an hour ago and am in the process of styling the body of the home-page:

Thanks

I would search for a plugin to do what you want. It seems like I have seen some that give you an excerpt.
