Upgrade from 3.2 to 3.4.2 - pages disappeared

I tried to upgrade from 3.2 to 3.4.2 and all my pages disappeared. Of course when I switched back they were there but how can I keep the pages from the old version of the theme to the new one?

What version of WP and PHP?

Did you ever modify any of the Atahualpa code? a simple upgrade shouldn't do anything.

Do the pages show up if you switch to the default theme?

What is the URL?

the pages are actually special posts that reside in the wordpress database so they haven't been deleted, but something unique to your site/code is happening.

Try disabling all your plugins also

I can PM you the URL, it's too high-profile a site and I don't want that URL indexed.

current WP version 2.8.4

php 5

I'll disable all the plugins and see what happens. These are all the same plugins I've used in the past and this is the first time this has happened. Very weird.

which pages are missing?
I notice that on the front page, you aren't using any sidebars - rthis is intentional correct?

That's correct, the way the home page is split up isn't using sidebars. It's all static content.

But what pages are missing?

The version you're seeing is using the old version of ata.

krystyna Sep 2, 2009 10:14 PM

I've switched it to 3.4.2 now.

juggledad Sep 3, 2009 03:54 AM

Hmm The theme is working but you are getting 404's - do you have a .htaccess set up?
also please switch back to 3.2 I want to compare the generated source.

krystyna Sep 3, 2009 08:47 AM

no .htaccess

It's back to 3.2 now, and one plugin that was being used was "html on pages" but figuring that it could have been the culprit (it never caused a problem before) I deactivated it and deleted it.

krystyna Sep 3, 2009 11:19 AM

BTW the active plugins are

Events Calendar
Link Library
Next Gen Gallery

juggledad Sep 3, 2009 02:20 PM

have you tried with 'link library' disabled? the other two shouldn't cause any problem, but this one does play with links... other than that, I'm at a loss with out actually going in and looking at the settings, etc

krystyna Sep 4, 2009 09:31 AM

Everything's been deactivated but NextGen, same result.

Funny, when I switch to 3.4.2 and go to "edit pages," it says 8 pages have been "published", but the list of pages shows nothing.

Another interesting thing - when I create a page using 3.4.2, it appears in the menu, like the other pages, but when I click on the menu link, it's not there. And when I go back to the "edit page" area, the page is not there either.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.

In case 3.4.2 may have somehow been corrupted, I'm going to delete it and re-upload it and see what happens.

juggledad Sep 4, 2009 09:42 AM

I've sent you a PM

krystyna Sep 4, 2009 10:06 AM

deleting and reinstalling 3.4.2 didn't help.

juggledad,

Just for my own edification, I decided to call the hosting service. This domain is on an old server so I thought it might have something to do with an old version of PHP. The PHP version, it turns out, is 4.3. That could very well be the issue.

The site's being moved to a new server by the customer anyway, so we'll start afresh over there, with the correct version of PHP. I figure all will be fine then. Thanks for your help!

juggledad Sep 4, 2009 03:00 PM

Ahhh, you mislead me :p - I'm willing to bet that it is the php 4 causing the problem. Let us know for sure.
