3.4.4 to 3.6.7 ? Please advise as to upgrade path

Hi

I would like to keep up to date and have an important website running Ata 3.4.4.

Wordpress itself has just updated to the latest version without problems.

What steps do I need to take to upgrade Ata? I have customised quite heavily and would not like to lose any of the changes I have made. It has been quite a while since I worked with Ata though so I'm scared of missing out a file or something.

If I screw up completely is it just a case of ftping up the old Ata folder to get back to 3.4.4?

TIA

Adri

If you follow the manual update instructions as outlined here you will have two versions of Atahualpa available so you can switch back and forth. The biggest issue is if you have used PHP in some of the areas of the theme options it will no longer work in 3.6.7.

You should of course get a complete backup as mentioned in the update instructions.

What I do when I am attempting a process I have never done before is try it on my test site. I have always had a test site to learn and try things out on and can't imagine working without one. Most good hosts let you install multiple sites. As a matter of fact I just had a hack on my test site which didn't really surprise me as I am doing all sorts of stuff there but it gave me a good opportunity to see how I would work with that kind of problem.

Hi. Thanks for the reply.

I understand the manual install and have done the images folder in preparation for upload. BUT, I've just reviewed in the Wordpress Admin page the number of custom settings that have been carefully tweaked to give the look and feel (and functionality) of the site and it looks a huge job to go through all of the settings and change them from my old0 version of ATA to the new version. Am I missing a trick here? Or do I have to go through box by box changing each individual setting???? Ugh!

TIA

Adri.

All the settings for the Atahualpa Options are in the database. There can be some issues when updating from some of the older versions but if you just upload the new Atahualpa into a atahualpa367 folder you will only need to change the places in the options that refer to the old path to the theme which is only a few such as background images and such. If the new theme doesn't look good when you activate it you can just switch back and post a question on the forum.
