[SOLVED] Jump-to Links in posts
Hi all,
I was wondering if Atahualpa supports the so called jump-to links. Those are the wikipedia-stile links that are used inside the post to help readers navigate the content of the post. It's like when you have a table of content at the beginning of the post and it connects different parts of the post by jumping to that specific piece that might interest you the most. I tried to search for plugins that would support such inside-post jumping but couldn't find anything on wordpress.org. I found some suggestions how to do it manually but none worked for me in atahualpa. I am hoping someone has already resolved this issue, but I couldn't find anything in the forums here. Thanks in advance for your help, guys. Vince |
What code did you use?
Did you add the code using the visual editor? (which won't work) what is the URL pointing to a post with the code in it? |
I tried to replicate the process described here: http://www.wendycholbi.com/anchor-links-jump-links/
But it didn't work for me - the links were not "jumpy". I remember a year ago I saw a demonstration on youtube where the guy had this functionality in his wordpress admin panel - just pushed a button creating those content links. I didn't think too much about it back then as the demo was about something else, but when I tried to replicated it, I simply couldn't find a similar button in my panel. I figured out it must be either a plugin or the functionality of his theme. I researched the plugins and I couldn't find anything similar, so it must be the theme that he was using. Any ideas how this might work in Atahualpa? Thanks. |
Please answer ALL of the questions I asked.
|
1. I made changes in html editor.
2. I created something similar to this <h3 id="thesis">Part 1: Thesis</h3> for the part I wanted the link to jump to, and then linked the text like "Go Here" using first a short url, like suggested, #thesis, and when that didn't work, a full url, like http:/www.yoursite.com/yourpagetitle/#thesis, which didn't work either. Thanks. |
I followed the instructions in that article and all worked as expected.

ok, so it works for Larry, now what is the answer to my original question 3?

OK, thanks guys. It works for me now, when I used it outside the Tabs area. In this specific post I have 4 tabs that readers can click to navigate, and I was trying to use this jump-to link within the tabs. However, the link won`t jump to the specific tab - obviously it doesn`t work with this tabs plugin. But when used it outside the tabs area and linked from the very end of the post, it did jump to the area where the tabs are all line up on one line but not into Tab2.
I guess I probably won`t be able to make it work with the tabs. Apologies for the trouble! And thanks for the help! |
