Need to create an "almost" exact copy of my site

I know there are several threads about transferring Atahualpa, but I did not find one that will cover my needs exactly. Here's the situation:

I have created a site using Atahualpa theme at www.octaviosalles.com.br/blog . Now I need to copy this very same site, with all the settings, photos and pages (different blog posts, but I'll export those later from my wordpress.com account) to a different directory I have created called blog_english. This will be an english version of my site, with slightly different content but I will adjust that later. The index page will be just to direct to the portuguese or english versions.

The Atahualpa theme is already installed in this new directory, I just need to copy the content from the /blog directory. What's the easiest way to do it?

I appreciate if you could post a little step-by-step...

Thanks a lot for any help.

I'll give you a general set of directions.
1) you need to copy the wp-contents directory form one site to the other. This will grab any uploads you ace done (photos, plugins etc)
2) do a SQL expore od the original db
3) edit the SQL and do a global change of old domain name to new domain name
4) import the SQL into the new database (don't use phpMyAdmin, it will take forever, you need to use command line mysql)

And basically that's it.

Ok I guess that's easy, just copy and paste the entire folder.

How do I export it? Should I use the export tool in wordpress, to export the XML file? Is that what you mean? Sorry, while I know some HTML, I know next to nothing of SQL or PHP.

:confused::confused:
Where do I edit? Notepad or something? Global change?

Ok, that was greek to me... I'm starting to think I won't be able to do this...

To do an export you can use the db-manager plugin or do it using phpMyAdmin - check with your host.

Doing backups is a very important thing to learn. You want to be able to recreate your site in case of a disaster.

Yes you want to edit the export file with a text editor - not a word processor. Then you do a global search/replace. I work on a Mac and ust the program textwrangler

If you don't know how to do exports and imports and don't know the correct syntax for a mysql import, you may want to hire someone to teach you.
