How can I put an inline post on a static page in excerpted form?

I use a static page as a home page, would like to put a selected post in excerpted form on the home page using an inline plug in. I have set all the atahualpa options for posts to excerpted form and the options for posts as excerpts. But when the inline plug in picks it up, it shows the full post.

Have you tried the Page2Cat plugin?
