[SOLVED] "continue reading" duplication
 

When I open a post the "continue reading" function work correctly.
However when I access posts from Search by Category the posts with a "Continue Reading" function have that duplicated as in this link http://careersnews.ie/category/applications/

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

what happens if you disable ALL your plugin's at the same time?

I didn't explain in the previous message. I have had a bad year of illness so a lot of things were left undone.

On the advice to disable all the plugins - I have never done this and wonder if it would collapse the site?

Do a full backup of the site ( something you should do on a regular basis) so you can recover it if something goes bad. Then turn the plugins off, chech the site and you can turn them on again.

If you're really nervous, after the backup. Restore the site to a test site and test shutting off the plugins in it

Afraid that won't work as I don't have a test version of the site. I do a full backup every day.
I have looked at the code in firebug but cannot see what is producing the duplicate text. Is there any other tool that might allow me to dig out the source of the duplication.

You should setup a test site…to test things out. Most hosts let you create sub-domains. If you created a subdomain called 'testsite', you would get to it with 'testsite.careersnews.ie'

So…why are you getting duplicates??? Is there a bug? is your site haunted? or is it doing what you told it to do??? (want to guess before going on?????)

If you guessed it was doing what you told it to do…. you are right.

If you go to ATO->Configure EXCERPTS and look at the 'Custom read more' option this is what you will see:

and you click and drag to make the section bigger…look what we find.

(If I had a dollar for every time I've discovered the computer was doing what I told it to do and not what I wanted it to do, I'd be a rich man ;))
