Admin link appears as register link
Hi
I've added an admin link to the footer of my sites (like here)- adding Code:
%admin% Code:
%register% Any idea why? - Atahualpa 3.4.4 - wp286 (The admin link is very handy to move quickly from an open front end page to the admin area - you just have to be logged in first. No admin link shows up for normal visitors) Thanks, |
does the site in question have any plugins that might redirect the link?
try disabling all plugins and see if it works. |
Thanks Juggler :-)
Tried deactivating all plugins, but still the same. Also tried after emptying cache - and in an other browser I hardly ever use. The same. The problem appeared in Atahualpa 342 and was still there after upgrading to 344. The funny thing is that the working and the troublesome sites reside on the same server. Everything is equal (except for different plugins). No big deal, just weird. PS Have a beer or some good coffee. You deserve it. |
One other thing to check is the PHP version (good plugin to use for this is wp security scan - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...n/screenshots/)
some times you can set the php version in your htaccess (godaddy defaults to 4.x) Please past the entire content of ATO->Style & edit FOOTER->Footer: Content p.s. Thanks I will get some of both! |
Hi - again
PHP version: 5.2.10 (safe mode off) My-SQL 5.1.38 Don't know if you need anything more - - or how to specify the php version in the .htaccess file I've pasted out rather rich footer below - with the admin code at the end. (Regarding security, I've been using the WP Exploit scanner plugin, which has only found safe stuff. A test with your suggestion too gave us something like a B score) Cheers, Kj PS As I said, this is no big deal, just weird. So if you don't see anything obvious, we'll just leave it, OK? HTML Code:
<p>DOLCEVITA.NO drives av norske journalister i Italia. Vi er ingen reiseoperatør, men sprer info og inspirasjon med en sterk lidenskap for Italia - <a href="http://www.dolcevita.no/dolcevita/kontakt-annonsere/#hvem">Mer om oss</a><br /> |
Ok, I figured this out. The %admin% and %register% work completely the same.
If you are logged in, you will see a link to 'Site Admin' If you are not logged in if dashboard->settings->general->Membership->Anyone can register is turned on you will see a link to 'Register' if it is not turned on, you won't see anything |
Never would have thought of that - and you're very close:
If dashboard->settings->general->Membership->Anyone can register is turned on (checked) you will see a link to 'Register' If it is unchecked, you won't see anything - on this site (at the end of the footer) On the other sites, though, an Administation link appears - as it does here. Conclusion: There must be something other setting making an influence. Anyhow: We're close to Christmas, so take it easy - and thanks again. :o) |
