Footer is in the sidebar

My footer is appearing in the right sidebar instead of at the bottom of the page, where it belongs. I've tried everything I can think of. Any advice?

So..you have a problem and need some help...

Amandaeaustin May 16, 2011 10:00 AM

With all due respect, I spent hours on this forum going through it and hours trying every fix I could on my theme, and posting is a last resort, so providing a link telling me I should't ask in the first place is NOT helpful.

But since I'm clearly *not* getting an answer here, I guess I'll keep digging.

Really, thanks for nothing.

Do you have a link to the site? Without seeing the site it would be just guessing as to a solution.

Has the site ever functioned correctly?

Did the problem occur after any changes?

What version of Atahualpa and WordPress?

Amandaeaustin May 16, 2011 10:18 AM

My site is http://itsblogworthy.com

Atahualpa 3.6.4 and WP Version 3.1.2

The footer worked the first time installed the theme. I had a problem with the WP installation and had to re-install the whole thing, and when I re-installed Atahualpa the footer stayed in the right sidebar. I've messed around with everything I can think of...I'm not new to CSS and HTML, etc. but know just enough to be dangerous.

Thanks so much for your response.

Have you tried temporarily deactivating all plugins?

Also I would look for missing pieces of code in a recent post or page or perhaps in the footer configuration box. Something like a missing semicolon or closing tag can mess things up. You could also try a reinstall of WordPress if you are sure that is when the problems occurred. Be sure to get a backup first.

when you post something like

there is not enough information to start to help you. I pointed you at that thread so you might think to provide a link, the versions of the theme and WP. You would be surprised at how many people using another theme ask questions here.

That thread was written so we don't have to ask over and over things like
Quote:

5 - Disable all your plugins - since plug-ins are written by different people, using different coding standards, and there are thousands of plug-ins, inevitably there are going to be conflicts. Conflicts between plug-ins, conflicts between a plug-in and a theme, conflicts between plug-ins and WordPress (there are/were several plug-ins conflicts with WP 3.0 when it first came out. The plug-ins cause sites not to work at all). So disable your plug-ins and see it that resolves the issue.

7 - Provide the version number of Atahualpa and WP you are running - saying 'I'm using the latest version' is useless, what if a new vrsion came out earlier today or you only think you are using the latest version. Besides, six months from now that statement won't help someone else looking for an answer.

8 - Provide the URL! - if there is a problem on a particular page - name the page!!
none of which you did until lsmilesw had to ask you for them AFTER you were pointed to a thread that told you to provide them!

If I wasn't going to help, I would have ignored your thread instead of pointing you to what YOU need to do to start the process.
