Thank you very much, SharonJ. I have followed your suggestions and I think it now loads a bit faster. Although I suspect that my trackers is a slowing-down-component. Can that be so?
I think in my browser statusbar, I see "sitemeter", "google analytics" and "tailsweep" flashing by. |
You are absolutely right. You have ten trackers and each one of them has to take not of my ip address etc. Pick one. Site Map is probably all you need. I like the look of the site much better now, by the way!
|
I take that back...If you have Google Analytics, keep that. Google is still the king.

It's still Atahualpa :-) Now incorporating a Simple:Press forum. The bbPress 2.0 forum was migrated into Simple:Press. bbPress 2.0 required a child theme, which was a bit messy. |
I don't think this is showing off as such, but I have three sites that use Atahualpa.
These two were created in 2010, http://www.merchistounhall.co.uk http://www.merchistounminnows.co.uk And this one 2011, http://www.hillosteopath.co.uk |
Hi Steve, what nice, clean looking sites you have built. Hillosteopath is taking up to 3 seconds to load each page..I note your scripting is inline. You might want to go to ATO/Configure JS and CSS and change it to external, which might help. Anyways, nice work.
|
Been working in Atahualpa off and on for the last couple years and decided to use it on a new project.
LOVING the way this one turned out. http://warsteeds.com |
@SigWS... One suggestion is to optimize the header images for the web. They are around 500Kb and cause the page to load slowly. An image of those dimension should easily be under 100Kb.
|
Other than the point about the size of the banner photos, it sure looks like you are having fun.
Is the orange glow around the letters a CSS text effect or is it the font you are using? Yes, I know, I could probably find it, but I am feeling lazy tonight! |

This is an awesome theme. My website http://www.zhigouusa.com/ is in Chinese. But you are always welcome to check out my design of the theme
|
Hi Madfrog,
The page does not get more basic than that. It is probably a cultural thing, but I like to look at sites that are "warmer" friendlier, more inviting and less "BUY ME NOW." I would be tempted to put an image in the background behind the page. But like I said, it is personal preference only, your site looks perfectly functional. |

Yes, much faster, whatever you did. How can you tell it is the FB/Twitter links that slow it down?

This is my website based on atahualpa: http://strictlyhonest.com
I would like to make it match my forum one day at godlikediscussions dot tk but I don't want to hassle with html settings because I have enough traffic and don't want to break it so I'm to scared to change anything. |
This site has been up for close to a year but thought I would post it because it really shows the power behind this theme.
Is this a great site? Not really but was given a design by a graphic designer and had to match it pixel perfect. Many things wrong with it but we won't go into that. Client and graphic designer was happy, so I guess that's what counts. http://www.iris-dvs.com I think without Atahualpa I would have given up. Even then I almost did. Thanks to Larry, I got past some tough things. |
Here is a just launched Atahualpa site:
http://kroppedal.dk It's for a danish museum. The design was made by a graphical designer and I implemented it in Atahualpa. These are some of the plugins used: Gravity Forms Types & Views My Calendar Custom Post Widget Display Widgets Subpages Extended |

Here is a link to my Atahualpa website: http://www.paulgingell.co.uk
It's still work in progress, and the fonts are a bit temperamental, but the structure is working well. I'm particularly pleased with the multi-column format, which was much easier than I thought it would be. I couldn't have done half of this without all the people on this forum asking questions and working through solutions. It's been a joy to use. |
Paul - very nice site! clean and uncluttered - you get a pat on the back!
I did notice in the footer, the SUBSCRIBE doesn't do anything |
Thanks! There are quite few links out of action at the moment. The Subscribe button will need some though, as I haven't yet worked out how a self-hosted Wordpress site works in an interactive sense. I'm thinking that I might create some kind of html email which people can sign up to, or perhaps I'll find an interesting plugin which does something similar.

@ Paul Gingell
Nice site, Paul!! I never would have guessed it was Atahualpa at all. You sure are a talented photographer as well. Love the green fields and the little village on the About page. Will those ever be cards? Anyways, the only suggestion I would have is to make your css and javascript external (ATO-CSS/Javascript- down at the bottom) It makes for tidier coding and brings your actual content closer to the top of the page. I have also learned to my horror that some kind of backup plugin will save you a stroke sometime in the future. I use Backup to Dropbox. |

I've done this some time back, but I figure what the hey, Working on optimizing the speed again after some changes and plugin updates. Freedom Builders & Remodelers
At first I integrated the blog within my html site then I switched over to all wordpress. I carried the basic color scheme over |
I don't know CSS, just a bit of HTML, so Atahualpa has been a life saver. This is the first time I used it, thanks to a positive review from Doncaprio.
I'm using the theme on my person blog -- www.joanko.net I love the minimalist design of new themes like Twenty Twelve (default Wordpress theme). Atahualpa can do this too. It's fantastic how adaptable the theme is. |
fun and well-done except it loaded slowly on my computer [3.4o Gh and 8 Gb memory]
|
Thanks for the feedback, anartist. I hadn't thought about speed. I'll try to find ways to speed it up. I wonder if it's because I've used a Google web font or if it's something to do with my web host (Dreamhost). Hmm.

Here are a couple sites which atahulapa runs that i've been involved with:
