I'm very pleased to launch this new site using Atahualpa. I love love love using it!

Amazon.com aStore Sucess with Atahualpa
I just finish a new Atahualpa website that features an Amazon.com aStore. I'm quite please with how easy it was to implement with Wordpress. I simply inserted the code form the Amazon Associates site, and this money maker runs all by itself. It actually adds to my site's content, since I can make references in my blog to helpful products in the store at the bottom of my webpages. One tip in particular is to use anchor links to your store with references in the blog story. Here's an example on my newest Atahualpa website: WoW Macros Guide
Thanks, Atahualpa. I owe you a million. If you are also taking advantage of this awesome Wordpress theme, please let know what you think of my Atahualpa website with an Amazon.com aStore. |
Here's my sister's fitness site I started for her about a year ago...it's getting pretty big now.
http://www.fitfabulousforever.com Here's one for an attorney that's mostly finished...just waiting on his videos. http://wilsonbradleylaw.com I'll share one more...this one I did for the International Committee for Chinese Orphans http://www.tjicco.org Can't thank you enough, Flynn! You too, Larry and Juggledad! I tell you what, Microsoft would charge $200/hr for the kind of support I've received at this site on a regular basis. I was happy to make my recent donation...guess another is in order soon. Thanks, guys! |
Not a true magazine style, but almost: husdal.com
Using the Add New Widget Area function and the Kalin's Post List plugin and a static frontpage I was able to create something that mimics a magazine style: The nice thing about plugin is that the output can be styled easily, something that is quite hard with the other post list plugins I have come across. |
I've built a bunch of sites using Atahualpa, but these are a few of my projects with it as the foundation:
http://www.worthsy.com (yet to officially launch) http://www.localoranges.com |
Mine is www.intervenors.ca . I will be very grateful if you could let me know how the color output is on your screen. It looks fine on my screen and I would like to know how it looks at your end.
|
The color seems alright to me but I would highly recommend getting rid of the scroller and just put a line of text in there. Having to wait for the scroller to scroll along with the difficulty in reading it is annoying to many and not currently best practice.
|
@ Sober. I love it and the colours look great on my screen. I find the moving background a bit distracting. Could you just use a static version?

"OnSafety is the Official Blog Site of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)." No, it's not my site. I just thought you'd be interested. |
Hello again
Based on input from viewers, I've changed most of the colours as well as the animated background. Please visit my experiment at www.intervenors.ca and let me know how it looks at your end. Thanks to everyone in advance. Jimmy George |
Building sites in Atahualpa all the time- Love it!!

Hallo guys, this is Frank from Germany,
I have just build a new website with Atahualpa http://www.contest-consult.de Hope U like it. Regards Frank |
@ Frank - Love your work Frank, very nice. Have you looked at Themeframe? I think you might enjoy it... a lot :)
Thanks for sharing. |
Here's my 2 most recent. The attorney one is pretty graphics heavy and may load a little slowly depending on your connection. The other is also very recent.
I strip atahualpa completely naked for each site and build everything custom pretty much, including the animations. Would you believe about 90% of these are done with CSS? I really enjoy it. If anyone likes my work and would like to consult me about a project, I'd love to hear from you. A Tennessee Attorney 3V Learning - Distance Education Site Thanks! Eric |

Hi Frank, Site looks great! What part of the country are you in? I live in Lower Saxony with my girlfriend, who is German. We are about an hour from Hannover. Nice to see your work! Eric |
I am a little cautious when it comes to changing the basic design...but did come up with this...fastharry.com
would love to hear any ideas that would be easy to implement.. |
We've used Atahualpa for a couple iterations of our site, but here's the most recent one: http://bestdamnnerdshow.com/
Eventually we'll abandon MyBB and try to integrate bbPress 2.0 into our theme... but that's a huge challenge right now without any documentation for bbPress or any kind of importer! |
When started on Wordpress I also started using Atahualpa(thanks to Webheer) I am quite happy with the result till now(before only able to use Frontpage for my webbuilding)
For those who want to peek:) link to my site |

I have been using Atahualpa for a few years now. I am currently running Wordpress in a Shared Hosting Environment on IIS7. I have learned a few things on this over time that makes the site load quickly - especially return/repeat visits or page views.
I am also using a very similar setup at Swanson Heritage, a project started 4 years ago with my helpful aunt that now catalogs our ancestry to 1656. We have learned a lot about how to trace our roots in Sweden and Finland! I am using the latest WP and the latest Atahualpa Theme, which made this work easier. I did however throw out the rotating header images in the theme and am using NextGen for the rotating images above the loop (as a custom widget area). The images are clickable and even have a description of where the pan style images where taken (on Swanson Heritage so far...my task today is to move that data also to Swanson Photo's). Feedback would be great. Tips also. Please use the Contact Form or respond here. A mobile view of both sites is also accessible on your mobile device through it's web browser. |
Always looking to improve my site, using ATA 3.5.1 and love it. Loaded with 23 running plugins but loads fairly quickly with CloudFlare on Rackspace Cloud server. Using Infinite Scroll for browsers that can see it. Also using Featurific Flash on top of main page. Would consider swapping out for a dual slide-in banner if anyone has a usable suggestion?
Appreciate any suggestions except my choice of background images. Get tired of looking at 'white screens' all day long and think the full-page articles are easy-on-the-eye and help images to stand out. Love this forum and the support and invite any suggestions or respective criticism (except BG Images). :) Thanks to all the creative people here. I have used Atahualpa for a while now in a couple of projects. The first project was my old blog Susie's Thoughts. Im'n not updating the blog anymore, but it's still up there.
The second site was a project I did at school with a group of students (I'm a teacher). The site is only in Finnish built for a rowan three project. Atahualpa is a really good tool to use in education when the primary goal is not to teach html or css. The site can be found here Pihlajapuu.info. My third example is a site I built for a EU funded project called ELPiPL (European Language Portfolio on Student’s Journey through Studies into Professional Life). Wee needed a goodlooking site with a lot of functionality up and running in a very short time period. Wordpress and Atahualpa helped us reach our goal in the timeframe given. Site can be found here elpipl.com. My latets projects are my own and they are still under construction, so any feedback is appreciated. One is a blog about textile and patterns design. The site can be found here: Patterns for me. The second one is a blog and community I planning where the goal is to help small business owners to find and share knowledge of open source software they can use to develop their businesses. I'm both a teacher and a small business owner and I have a lot of experience in using open source software. The blog can be found here: ossbu.info I relly like the flexibility of wordpress combined with atahualpa, so big thanks to the developers giving us such an awesome tool! |
I just launched www.iosgametrailers.com. Can you all show some love? Visit, comment, like, and follow to enter to win a iPod touch in time for the holidays. Also giving away promo codes for iPhone and iPod touch games every Friday.
|
Atahualpa is the best! I use it on both of my primary blogs and some of my niche sites. Makes it super easy to get up and running FAST!

What would I do without this theme!
Here's my first Handmade Jewelry site by Atahualpa. Any other e-commerce website showcase here? :) |
Here are two sites, that I've done recently with Atahualpa:
The Orthodox Church in Denmark http://ortodoks.dk News Portal for Danish Maritime Museums: http://udkigsposten.dk |
I use Atahualpa 100% of the time now...
Just completed this very simple design: Tutoring site This one took some work! Mike Ethan Messick website |
FINALLY got my own site revised and converted to wordpress with ATA. This theme rocks.
|
you might want to make th e images a little smaller (sizewise) the movado.png is 358 KB, and you can see it loading. Try to resample it and get it down to under 100KB

Nice and clean looking! I like the labyrinth! I used Atahualpa for this site:
http://labyrinthsofbc.com/ Though she has done nothing with it since I built if for her! |
I think the site would be imroved by losing the background pattern. It is very distracting and adds nothing to your page. The layout is good.
|
I recently started designing a blog for a local business and didn't really have much coding knowledge. I have to say that this thread is invaluable to solving problems and satisfying a client. Thanks to all that post here and share their trials, tribulations, and code. The content isn't mine, but the layout, graphics, and customization are. Feel free to comment if there is something sloppy, or non compliant that I could improve on. Thanks again for making this forum public! http://www.ellanista.com/blog cheers!
|
off the top, you want to make the layout the width of your graphic. Otherwise the content below the banner spreads across my whole screen (1900 px)
Atahualpa Theme Options, Style and Configure Layout. Change it from 100% to 1000px. Also, for javascript and CSS, make them external files Atahualpa Theme Options/ the bottom box- Configure Javascript and CSS Optimize your banner image, it loads slowly. It should not be more than 150 k |
Thanks so much for taking the time to provide some feedback. I'll knock your suggestions out in the morning! This has got to be the most useful forum filled with nice, and helpful people who don't make a newb feel like a jerk!
|
No problem. We all have to start somewhere, and I am still learning stuff every time I come here.:)
|
What is the advantage for making java and css an external file on a blog like this. I understand doing that if you are making a large site with multiple pages, or if you want to make a change you only make it to the code file. Either way here it is all in one spot though? Is it so there is less code to decipher each time a page loads? I made the changes, just trying to better understand why/how they make a difference. Thanks so much for your help.
|
when you make the jscript and CSS exteral it loads on teh first page view then it is in the browsers memory so when a visitor goes to anoother page, that code doesn't get reloaded saving a small amount of time. If your site is getting thousands of hits it can make a difference, if you only get a few hits, it won't matter.
